Welding Wire for Coil Nail

Welding Wire for Coil Nail

The primary role of Welding Wire For Coil Nail is to act as the collation method for wire-weld coil nails. It is a thin, precise wire that is resistance-welded to the shanks of the nails to hold them together in a long, coiled strip.

Description

Core Material: Most mainstream products use copper-plated welding wire, while some patented products employ a double-layer composite plating of tin and copper to achieve better oxidation resistance and welding performance.

Key Specifications: Diameter is typically between 0.6mm and 0.9mm, with 0.7mm and 0.8mm being the most common. Packaging is generally in 10kg, 20kg, or 25kg coils.

Performance Parameters: Good welding wire needs to be "moderately hard." Too hard, it breaks easily; too soft, it lacks strength. High-quality products typically have a tensile strength of 330-380MPa and an elongation of around 25%. The latest patented technology even controls the carbon content below 0.06% to further reduce hardness and brittleness, fundamentally solving the problem of easy breakage.

Welding Wire For Coil Nail must have very specific properties to work flawlessly in high-speed nail collating machines:

Material Low-Carbon Steel (e.g., AISI 1008, 1010) Provides excellent weldability. The low carbon content prevents the formation of hard, brittle zones in the weld area, which could cause the strip to break during feeding or storage.

Diameter Very Fine. Typically ranging from 0.30 mm to 0.50 mm (approx. 0.012" to 0.020"). The wire must be small enough to be discreet and not interfere with the nail gun's driver blade, yet strong enough to hold 300+ nails together.

Tensile Strength High Strength. It is heavily drawn (hard drawn) to achieve high tensile strength. The coil of nails is under significant tension and is slammed around on a job site. The weld wire must be strong to prevent the strip from snapping during use.

Surface Finish Clean and Bright. Usually drawn to a bright finish without heavy oxidation or scale. A clean surface is crucial for achieving a consistent and strong resistance weld. Contaminants would cause weak or failed welds.

Ductility Precise Balance. It must be ductile enough to be formed into a coil without breaking, but not so soft that it stretches and deforms.
