Wire Coil Nail Collator

The machine's core function is to feed individual nails, align them precisely, and weld them onto the wire in a continuous strip, which is then coiled.³

Feeding and Alignment:

Loose nails are poured into a vibrating feeder bowl (hopper).⁴

The vibration causes the nails to travel up an inclined guide rail, aligning them one after another.⁵

Welding (Collating):

The aligned nails are precisely positioned on an accumulating disc or in a welding zone.⁶

Two parallel strands of wire (often copper-plated) are pulled from supply spools.

The nails are attached to the wires by an electrical resistance welding process, creating a strong, stable connection.⁷ This is often done at a specific angle (e.g., ⁸$15^{\circ}$ or ⁹$16^{\circ}$).¹⁰

Coating and Drying (Optional):

The continuous strip of collated nails may then pass through a system to be varnished or painted for rust resistance or color-coding, followed by a warm air drying process.¹¹

Coiling and Cutting:

The finished strip is automatically wound into a tight coil.¹²

The machine cuts the coil to the desired length/nail count (e.g., 200-400 nails per coil).¹³

Often, an automated rubber banding or strapping unit finishes the coil for packaging.¹⁴
