Die for High Speed Nail Making Machine

Die for High Speed Nail Making Machine

It provides a massive, immovable anchor point for the wire. When the heading punch strikes the end of the wire with immense force (several tons), the Die for High Speed Nail Making Machine must hold the wire perfectly still. If it slips, the nail head will be malformed or the wire will be jammed.

Description

The die body is fixedly installed on the equipment and has a sliding channel inside for accommodating and guiding the die core. The die core (punch/bearing rod) reciprocates within the die body, working in conjunction with the die to extrude the wire into a nail head and nail tip. The die holder is used to mount the die body and adjust the concentricity of the die and the punch. Working principle: The wire is fed into the forming hole of the die. The punch impacts one end of the wire at high speed, and with the cooperation of the die core, the wire is extruded and formed: one end forms a nail head, and the other end is cut off to form a nail tip.

Commonly used materials: Cr12MoV (chromium-molybdenum-vanadium alloy tool steel), SKD11 (Japanese grade, good wear resistance), DC53 (high toughness, high wear resistance), high-speed steel (such as M2). Heat treatment requirements: Quenching + tempering, hardness typically reaches HRC 58-62, ensuring wear resistance and impact resistance. Surface treatment: Some high-end die-cutting molds undergo nitriding or TiN coating to further improve wear resistance and reduce friction with wire.

The operation is extremely fast, happening hundreds of times per minute. Here's the sequence:

Feed: The wire feed mechanism pushes the wire rod through the clamp die and out the other side.

Clamping: Once the correct length of wire is protruding, the clamp die is actuated (usually by a strong spring or a cam mechanism) and closes with tremendous force, gripping the wire.

Heading & Shearing: Simultaneously:

The heading punch slams into the protruding end of the wire, upsetting it to form the nail head against the face of the clamp die.

The cut-off knife moves, shearing the newly formed nail away from the rest of the wire rod against the sharp edge of the clamp die.

Ejection & Release: The clamp die opens, releasing the now-severed wire. The finished nail is ejected, and the cycle immediately repeats.
