Description

Steel Wire Straightening Machine is typically located between the wire decoiler (payoff) and the main machine feed unit. It consists of several key components working in tandem:

1. Decoiler (Payoff):

  • Function: Holds the large coil of wire and allows it to unwind with minimal resistance. It may be a passive, freely rotating arm or an active, motor-driven unit that helps push the wire forward.
  • Importance: Prevents back-tension from complicating the straightening process.

2. Entry Guide Tube:

  • Function: A hardened steel tube that guides the wire from the decoiler into the straightening assembly. It ensures the wire enters the straightener at the correct, centered point.

3. Straightening Assembly (The Core Component):
Wire Straightening Syetem a set of hardened steel rollers or discs arranged in a specific pattern. There are two primary types:

  • a) Multi-Roller Straightener (Most Common for Nails):

Construction: Typically Wire Straightening Syetem consists of 5 to 10 rollers mounted in alternating, offset positions on two parallel shafts.

How it Works: The rollers are adjusted to bend the wire slightly past its yield point in alternating directions (up-down-left-right). This plastic deformation permanently removes the coil memory. The process is a series of controlled, reverse bends.

Adjustability: Each roller can be individually adjusted inward or outward. This is critical for handling different wire diameters (e.g., for finishing nails vs. large spikes) and different material grades.

  • b) Rotary Straightener:

Construction: The wire passes through a set of rotating dies (usually 2 or 3) that are angled relative to the wire's path.

How it Works: The rotating action and the angled dies "iron out" the curves as the wire is pulled through. This method is often used for very high speeds or specific wire types but is less common on standard nail machines than multi-roller systems.

4. Exit Guide / Stabilizing Tube:

  • Function: A long, straight tube after the straightening rollers. It allows the newly straightened wire to stabilize and ensures any minor residual oscillation from the rollers is dampened before the wire enters the feed mechanism.

5. Feed Unit (Grippers):

  • Function: While not part of the straightener itself, the feed unit is its direct partner. It consists of two hardened jaws that grip the straightened wire and push it forward a precise length (the length of the nail to be cut) into the machine's die and cutter head.
